Dubai: The Pakistan Super League 2025 is set to resume on May 17 in Rawalpindi, with Peshawar Zalmi taking on Karachi Kings in the first of eight remaining matches. The final will be played in Lahore on May 25.

PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi confirmed the development on Tuesday, announcing that the league would pick up where it left off before being suspended indefinitely due to heightened political tensions between India and Pakistan.

Taking to X, Naqvi posted: “HBL PSL X picks up from where it left off. 6 teams, 0 fear. Get ready for 8 thrilling matches starting 17th May, leading up to the Grand Final on 25th May. Best of luck to all the teams!”

Rawalpindi, Lahore to host remainder

The final phase of the tournament will be split between Rawalpindi and Lahore. Franchise officials are keen to conclude the season swiftly, although the availability of overseas players remains a major concern.

According to ESPNcricinfo, franchise representatives met the PCB on Monday to discuss the way forward. With several international players unlikely to return, team balance may be disrupted. Some teams reportedly feel more confident than others about securing their overseas stars.

In response, the PCB is considering organising a replacement draft to allow teams to plug the gaps in their squads.

Bangladesh tour in flux

The updated PSL schedule has also thrown Bangladesh’s proposed tour of Pakistan into uncertainty. The final is now slated for the same day as the first T20I of Bangladesh’s tour, originally planned for May 25 in Faisalabad.

The Bangladesh Cricket Board has stated that discussions regarding the tour are “active and ongoing”. Bangladesh were initially due to play five T20Is across Faisalabad and Lahore between May 25 and June 3.
