Downsizing
The Trump administration’s DOGE has launched an aggressive plan to downsize the federal workforce, offering employees eight months' pay if they resign by the end of February.
So far, more than 40,000 workers — about 2 per cent of the federal civilian workforce — have signed up, with numbers expected to rise before Thursday’s deadline.
Workers can apply with a simple email stating “resign” from their government accounts. The White House estimated that up to 10 per cent of federal employees could take the deal, which excludes defence, law enforcement, and postal workers.
