‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’ (UAE cinemas): Alia Bhatt has garnered massive praise for her turn as the real-life Gangubai Kathiawadi, a simple girl from a red-light district who has to endure tough circumstances. She eventually rises to prominence and becomes a ‘mafia queen’, leading people and fighting for the downtrodden. Expect a stellar performance from the young Bollywood actress.

‘Kimi’ (UAE cinemas): This Steven Soderbergh-directed thriller stars Zoe Kravitz as a tech worker who has agoraphobia. When she discovers evidence of a violent crime but when she tries to get help, she is met with resistance. In order to see justice served, she has to face her fears — the outdoors. Prepare for a murder mystery wrapped up in a futuristic world.

‘Aaja Mexico Challiye’ (UAE cinemas): This Punjabi drama, starring Ammy Virk in the lead, chronicles the treacherous journey undertaken by people who try to reach USA through illegal routs. Virk’s character Pamma plays a young man who decides to enter the US through the ‘donkey route’, by crossing the jungles of Mexico and facing many dangers. He befriends two comrades in arms, played by Pakistani actors Nasir Chinyoti and Zafri Khan.

‘Belfast’ (UAE cinemas): This British and Irish coming of age drama is written and directed by Kenneth Branagh and the icon says it’s his most personal movie to day. It follows the life of a family and their son’s childhood in Belfast, Northern Ireland at the beginning of The Troubles in 1969.
