Saudi Cup 2021 aced the fashion race

While being at the races offers a fun kick of adrenalin, this year’s $20 million Saudi Cup at the King Abdulaziz Racecourse over the weekend wasn’t all about the horses. It was also a lesson in Saudi Arabia’s rich sartorial heritage. Designer Honayda Serafi, who has dressed stars such as Canadian actress Shay Mitchell and American musician Janelle Monae, had number of outfits that turned heads. First up, for opening night, she wore a white, buttoned-up dress underneath a bedecked white overlay with a white headscarf and layered pearl necklaces.

She channeled her inner mermaid in a sea green, half-pleated abaya that featured golden applique that included a striking palm tree motif.

Influencer Yara Al-Namlah went for sport chic. She sported an elegant beige long coat with a Sadu fabric overlay from R9 Designs. She wore a maroon scarf and carried an Hermes handbag.

Fashion influencer and stylist Hala Al-Harithy tried prints; with a graphic Asseri printed abaya and dress by Saudi label Aram Designs.

Saudi influencer Noujoud Al Rumaihi went haute couture with a seriously stunning hat this time around.

Saudi shoe designer Lulu Al-Hassan paid ode to a classic - after all, you can't go wrong with black.
