Post Brahmastra, Shah Rukh Khan is the latest Bollywood cameo king

There’s something to be said about those brief glimpses of a favourite star when tuned in to a movie. It could be a significant cameo, such as the recent one by Shah Rukh Khan in ‘Brahmastra: Part One — Shiva’ or Salman Khan in ‘Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham’, or comical — such as the ones by Stan Lee in the Marvel movies. Here’s a look at some unforgettable shots in Bollywood films.

‘Brahmastra: Part One — Shiva’, which features newlyweds Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt, is doing well at the box office — having collected over Rs2 billion in four days. But what’s making more waves than the star couple is the appearance of Shah Rukh Khan in a 20-minute segment. Fans are so enamoured with Khan’s character, Dr Mohan Bhargav, that they want to see a spin-off that centres on him. Reports are also surfacing that we may get a new chapter that throws the spotlight on Khan’s character.

‘Ki & Ka’: Veteran Bollywood actor couple Amitabh and Jaya Bachchan had a significant scene in this 2016 romantic drama starring Kareena Kapoor and‎ Arjun Kapoor in the leads. In their cameo, the Bachchans played a couple who invited Arjun’s character for lunch in order to praise him for being a good husband to Kareena’s character.

‘PK’: Late actor Sushant Singh Rajput had a small appearance in Aamir Khan and Anushka Sharma’s 2014 comedy. In it, Rajput played a character named Sarfraz Yousuf who is Sharma’s romantic interest. In the film, their love faces opposition, Rajput’s character perseveres and they find each other once again.

Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham: When it came to extended cameos that left a mark, Salman Khan hit it out of the park in KKHH. He played Anjali’s (Kajol) adorable fiancé and he may not have got the girl at the end, but he won the hearts of the audience. For this role, he also received the Filmfare Award for best supporting actor. It was a gamble that paid off.

Ra.One: Rajinikanth rocked in the sci-fi adventure Ra One. He played the robot Chitti and won our hearts with his small but significant role. His cameo proved that some star wattage can go a long way in impressing viewers.

‘Munna Bhai MBBS’: Some cameos are heart-touching and Jimmy Sheirgill’s appearance as Zaheer Ali in this movie is one of those. Even though he is a cancer patient, Zaheer is convinced that Munna (Sanjay Dutt) can cure him of his terminal illness. While the efforts to save Zaheer fail, Sheirgill’s acting made the character memorable.

Hrithik’s appearance in Don was one that shocked fans. Shah Rukh Khan plays an antagonist in the movie, and the cameo is a scene where Don (SRK) is wearing a mask to escape from police. The masked face is that of Hrithik Roshan, a very realistic mask at that.
