Bollywood actress Kareena Kapoor Khan took her role as the showstopper for designer Gaurav Gupta very seriously. The star was a vision on the ramp as she modelled a dramatic light gold gown at the Lakme Absolute Grand Finale fashion show in Mumbai on October 10. “Gaurav Gupta explored the aquatic life, corals, the jellyfish & fantasy creatures and brought it to life with his stunning collection featuring fabrics made with wrappers of crisps and biscuits, plastic bottles & other daily consumables that have been excavated from oceans & landfills,” read a post by Lakme Fashion Week. Model and Bollywood star Malaika Arora wore a regal bridal outfit as the showstopper for designer label Annu’s Creation on the last day of Lakme Fashion Week. The red lehenga from the label’s bridal wear collection featured detailed embroidery and fine silver work. The elaborate outfit was topped off with traditional Indian jewellery and a long dupatta that trailed behind Arora. Social media users pointed out how Arora’s look was reminiscent of the one she wore in the iconic music video for ‘Chaiyya Chaiyya’ from the 1998 movie ‘Dil Se..’

Actress Dia Mirza was the showstopper for designer duo Abraham & Thakore on day three of the fashion event, which was the Sustainable Fashion Day. She wore a patchwork kafta that was part of a collection made using recycled materials. The outfits from the collection were made in “a warm colour palette with shades of burgundy, red, wine, coffee and olive, teamed with classic black and white,” according to Lakme Fashion Week. According to a statement, a “small selection of evening wear is hand embroidered with sequins made from sheets of discarded PET material creating glamour out of waste.”

Actors Tripti Dimri and Rahul Bose were also part of Sustainable Fashion Day, wearing outfits designed by the new creative director for the Satya Paul label, Rajesh Pratap Singh, titled ‘The Master’s Words’. The collection showcased Carbon Zero Tencel’s fibre as a tribute to the late Satya Paul.

Actress Shraddha Kapoor (right) closed day four wearing an eclectic black outfit featuring an embellished bodice design and a dramatic ruffled skirt by the brand AK-OK by Anamika Khanna.
