‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’ (UAE cinemas): The latest Marvel movie to hit the cinemas is an especially significant one. It’s the sequel that has arrived after the death of lead star Chadwick Boseman. The new movie focuses on Shuri’s journey, and a new aquatic antagonist Namor, who wants to protect his ancient underwater kingdom of Talocan with the help of the people of Wakanda, who are mourning King T’Challa.

‘Uunchai’ (UAE cinemas): Veteran actors Amitabh Bachchan, Anupam Kher and Boman Irani prove that age is just a number with this latest tale of friendship. They play three pals who trek to the Everest Base Camp, which was their fourth friend’s final wish. On their way, they are faced with emotional and physical challenges. It promises to be an emotional tale that’s perfect for a weekend family watch.

‘Yashoda’ (UAE cinemas): Samantha Ruth Prabhu takes on a thrilling new role in this Telugu-Tamil bilingual film. She plays a young woman who opts to become a surrogate mother in exchange for money. She enters a surrogacy centre where she suspects illegal activities are taking place, so she tries to get to the bottom of it.

‘Falling for Christmas’ (Netflix): Care for a cheesy, festive romance? Well, Lindsay Lohan’s big movie comeback is going to deliver some cliche, romcom vibes. In this flick, she plays an heiress who gets into a skiing accident and gets diagnosed with amnesia. She ends up being taken care of by a dashing cabin owner and his daughter.

‘The English’ (OSN+): Set in the 1890s, actress Emily Blunt stars as an aristocratic Englishwoman named Lady Cornelia Locke, who arrives in the West to take revenge on the man who she sees as responsible for the death of her son. She meets an ex-cavalry scout and Native American, with whom she discovers a possible shared history.

‘The New Legends of Monkey’ (Netflix): If you like a little kung-fu and magic in the mix, this may be just the series for you. A group of warrior monks has protected the crown of the Monkey King for generations, but when a demon shows up and steals it, it falls to a young girl from their monastery to reunite the Monkey King with the crown.

‘Ella Enchanted’ (Netflix): Fairies in this world give children a boon when they are born. For Ella (played by Anne Hathaway), however, this boon is more like a curse for the gift she’s been given is one of obedience. When her step sisters discover that she must do whatever anyone orders her to do, Ella sets out on a quest — to find the fairy that gave her the gift, and make her take it back. A take on Cinderella, this is a romcom worth a visit.

‘Mom’ (Amazon Prime Video): Mother-daughter relationships can be fraught with tension at the best of times, but when newly sober Christy crosses paths with her now sober mum, things begin to get …. interesting. This is a sitcom that heads into serious territory, but fortunately there’s a joke around every corner.

‘Forensic’ (Zee 5): A serial killer is on the prowl in the small town of Dehradoon, India. Estranged exes, played by Radhika Aapte and Vikrant Massey, must come together to catch the murderer before more young girls disappear.

‘The Emperor’s New Groove’ (Disney+): Uptight, selfish young emperor Kuzco was supposed to die when his adviser Yzma, angry at being fired, gives him a drink laced with potion. Only it doesn’t kill him — there’s a mix up with the jars — and instead transforms him to a llama. Then there’s a blunder where instead of killing the llama, the villains let him loose in a forest. Now, he must find his way back to his castle and get the antidote before he’s hunted down and killed. This is adventure at it’s most comical.
