The eighth season kicked off with the handsome couple Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone revealing a lot about their relationship dynamics and their dating record. It was a polarising start with many blasting Padukone for casually dating while seeing Singh. This week, an episode featuring siblings Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol has landed.

Deep Fear (UAE cinemas): If you are in the mood for an intense survival thriller with great action, then take a plunge with this Madalina Ghenea-starrer. She plays an accomplished yachtswoman who embarks on a solo trip to meet her boyfriend, Jackson (Ed Westwick). But her three-day adventure takes a dark turn when a storm forces her to veer off track. She unwittingly ends us with drug traffickers who force her to indulge in a shady deal. Watch this film if you are in the mood for an undersea adventure.

Friends (Netflix): Watching this iconic American sitcom will never be the same again. With the sudden death of Matthew Perry, who played Chandler Bing to perfection, this watch is going to be an emotionally-charged one. This show has been like this comforting friend to all those who have needed a show that made you laugh. As invigorating as a strong cup of coffee at Central Perk, as warm as a hug on a particularly trying day, ‘Friends’ has been a perfect feel-good show for generations. From Monica and Chandler’s chemistry to Joey who doesn’t share food, could there BE any other reason to watch this show? If you haven’t watched it, now is the time to hit start. Jawan (Netflix): Shah Rukh Khan, who celebrated his 58th birthday on November 2, has a perfect return gift for his army of fans. His 2023 blockbuster ‘Jawan’, starring him in dual roles along with Nayanthara and Deepika Padukone, makes its way to OTT platforms this week. The scenes which were edited out for the theatrical version have been retained in this version. If you are in the mood to see Khan exert his star power in dual roles of a vigilante son and father characters, then this is for you. Great stunt sequences, punchy dialogues, and Khan being the effervescent hero helps things along.

Pain Hustlers (Netflix): Emil Blunt plays a single mum who loses her job and is desperate for cash. A chance meeting with Pete Brenner (Chris Evans) sets a series of danger activities in motion. She is pulled into a dangerous racketeering scheme. This film is a searing portrait of greed and ambition. Seasoned actor Andy Garcia as her unhinged boss is worth a watch, along with Blunt who is in top form in this thriller as Liza Drake. This is no bitter pill to swallow.

Aarya Season 3 (Disney +): In this Ram Madhvani series which released in 2020, Sushmita Sen does the heavy lifting. Sen plays the fierce titular character, Aarya Sareen, whose life is upended when her husband (Chandrachur Singh) is shot dead. His shady business friends make it impossible for her exist and soon she takes charge of running a drug cartel. She’s also a protective mother who will go to any lengths to protect her family.

Pachinko (Apple TV): Pachinko is a gripping drama series that is based on a novel written by Min Jin Lee. The show follows the story of a Korean immigrant family and their struggle to survive. Completely straying from the glitz and glamour of a usual K-drama, ‘Pachinko’ portrays a very raw aspect of South Korea that not many people are aware of. Set in Japan-occupied Korea, the story unravels the laborious efforts that most people would have to take in order to survive during that time. The cast selection is absolutely apt and the cinematography pulls the viewer right into the Korea between 1910-1989.

Shutter Island (Prime Video): If you’ve watched ‘Killers of the Flower Moon’ (now playing in the UAE cinemas) and are looking for another mind-blowing masterpiece by director Martin Scorsese, here it is. Released in 2010, ‘Shutter Island’ is a psychological thriller that will have you questioning your reality once you are done with it. The movie follows the story of two detectives who come to ‘Ashecliffe Hospital for the criminally insane’ in search of a missing patient. As the movie progresses, you find that the hospital is not what it seems and there’s an abundance of secrets waiting to be uncovered. A film that stands strong against the test of time, ‘Shutter Island’ is the perfect plot twist to your weekend.

Five Nights at Freddy’s (UAE cinemas): Let the Halloween spirit in you not fizzle out yet. Bring out the spooks this weekend too, by catching ‘Five Nights at Freddy’s’ at the cinemas. Terrorising the online gaming space for years now, ‘Five Nights at Freddy’s’ is now creeping out people at a theatre near you. Though many critics have dissed the film, the box office has a different story to tell. According to reports, fans — especially young adults — flocked to the big screen in North America, making for an extraordinary debut. Containing some thrilling Easter eggs, this movie comes as a real treat for those who have played the game. But, it works even if you’ve never played the game.
