Top ten Hollywood and Bollywood films, shows to watch this weekend including Salman Khan's 'Tiger 3'

The Marvels (UAE Cinemas): The much-awaited instalment of the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe) is finally here. Gear up for an action-packed weekend as Brie Larson brings back Captain Marvel to the big screen with double the enthusiasm and energy, making it a thoroughly enjoyable watch. Watch Carol Danvers as Captain Marvel getting her powers entangled with two other superpowers, as they work together to save the world. Park Seo Joon’s cameo, although not very long, comes as a sweet surprise for all his fans. If that didn't sound appealing, the colourful sets and abundant energy from a comic book brought to life should do it for all.

Tiger 3 (UAE cinemas): Bollywood superstar Salman Khan has the perfect Diwali gift for his legion of devoted fans. He returns as the fierce RAW agent Avinash Singh Rathore, aka Tiger on the field in the third instalment of this hit spy series. Also starring Katrina Kaif as Zoya Humaimi, an ex-ISI agent from Pakistan, the third chapter is likely to bump up the stakes. Filled with spectacular action sequences, songs, and drama, ‘Tiger 3’ aims to entertain. It’s also high on star power. Actor Emraan Hashmi will be playing the antagonist and we can’t wait to see him kill it in the negative role. If previous instalments saw Tiger fighting off wolves in the snow, the new chapter is likely to amp up the action. So here’s your chance to see some serious star power roar to life in ‘Tiger 3’, directed by Maneesh Sharma. The movie releases in the UAE theatres on November 11 and the first show is after 6pm.

Japan (UAE cinemas): Tamil actor Karthi plays an outlandish crime boss in this Tamil-language action adventure, directed by Rajumurugan. Going by the trailers, Karthi is in top form as this ostentatious and loud warlord who plays by his own rules. The action sequences are as dazzling as the stacks of gold chain around his neck. Commit to this one if you are in the mood for some loud, bombastic masala film.

Fresh off the boat (Disney+): This star-studded sitcom, starring Constance Wu and Randall Park, follows an immigrant Taiwanese family as it comes to grips with living a new life in the US, with its social, cultural and economic implications. Based on the book by Eddie Huang, it is, on the whole, a realistic representation of Asians in mainstream media. There are stereotypes, but more in the nature of a satire. Only six seasons long, this show is perfect to curl up with on a relaxing weekend.

Koffee With Karan (Disney+): The third episode featuring rising stars Sara Ali Khan and Ananya Panday has the word fun, frivolous, and zany all over it. After a rather staid second episode featuring the sibling duo Sunny and Bobby Deol, this one has relatively more zing. Both Sara and Ananya are young, bold, and fabulous. Their vapid and funny responses to the catty show host’s questions makes it a fun watch. Make sure to enjoy the bits where they speak about their personal lives in riddles. It's also your chance to see Ananya let us in on a secret about a certain 'Aashiqui 2' star.

Ghoomer (Zee5): Director R Balki’s knocks it out of the park with this inspiring story of a young batting prodigy who loses her right hand in an accident and has to pick herself up in every way possible. Actress Saiyami Kher swings into action like a thorough professional in this movie, also starring Abhishek Bachchan in the role of her mentor. He is no cheerleader and believes in tough love. And don’t forget Abhishek and R Balki work beautifully well together. Remember his turn in ‘Paa; (2009) and how Abhishek shone in that stirring feature. ‘Ghoomer’ is no different as Saiyami and Abhishek bowl you over with their stupendous performances. We dare you not to reach for your tissues for this one.

Pippa (Amazon Prime Video): One of Hindi cinema’s most promising actors, Ishaan Khatter spearheads this war film based on the life of Captain Balram Singh Mehta belonging to India's 45 Cavalry regiment. Along with his siblings, this fierce man in uniform fought the hardest during the Indo-Pakistan war of 1971. Directed by Raja Krishna Menon, the movie also features Mrunal Thakur and Priyanshu Painyuli in lead roles.

Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani (Prime): This glossy coming-of-age film 'Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani' may have released a decade ago in 2013, but it continues to captivate. With a beautiful love story at its core, captivating cinematography and music, you just can’t get enough of this movie, directed by Ayan Mukherji. This is the ultimate Bollywood package filled with songs, dance, and feel-good moments. Did we tell you, there's even a big, fat destination wedding thrown into the mix? Apart from Deepika and Ranbir’s sizzling chemistry, you can also look forward to stellar performances by Kalki Koechlin and Aditya Roy Kapur. Let your weekend take you back to the comfort of 2013.

Veep (OSN+): If political satire is your thing, tune in to 'Veep'. Julia Louis-Dreyfus — remember her in Seinfeld? — plays Selina Meyers, the frustrated Vice President of the US, trying hard to climb higher despite her dysfunctional staff. Louis-Dreyfus’ performance makes it worth your weekend watch as you laugh at and hate her character all at the same time.

Death Note (Netflix): If you’re stepping into the world of anime, 'Death Note' is an absolute must-watch.
