Photos: Take a tour of Bollywood star Sonakshi Sinha’s refurbished Mumbai home

Bollywood actress Sonakshi Sinha recently renovated her duplex in Mumbai’s posh Juhu neighbourhood with the help of celebrity interior designer Rupin Suchak. Suchak has gives us an exclusive tour of Sinha’s refurbished apartment.

Suchak says Sinha’s home reflects the actress’ vibrant personality. “We used a lot of distressed wooden panels in the living room and in her bedroom. The idea was that her den shouldn’t look too perfect and shiny,” he said.

Sinha has used her own art work in the home. “The large art deco piece at the entrance is her own work and adds a fun, personal touch to the interiors,” Suchak said.

Suchak convinced Sinha to opt for a white bamboo bed as opposed to a four-poster bed. “The bamboo bed mellows down the atmosphere considerably and doesn’t make it look heavy or stuffy.”

They also worked hard on sourcing a walk-in wardrobe and a make-up station done in mint green wood.

“We used a lot of white and blue and there was a fear of it becoming linear and boring. So the glass partition and the zany bar was meant to cut the all-white with blue feel,” said Suchak.

Suchak also played around with wrought iron grill windows.

Every piece that you find in Sinha’s home has been sourced from India. “Everything is available right here … I take pride in sourcing stuff from India, unless my client demands a particular leather from Italy … Even at that time, I give them Indian-equivalent,” said Suchak.

Sinha was heavily invested in the process. “Every piece of furniture and corner has been personally approved by her and then incorporated.”
