Celebrities flocked to the 47th People’s Choice Awards red carpet for the first time since the 2019 show, thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic forcing the show online last year. The fan-voted awards were given out for numerous categories in film, TV, for actors, musicians and more. Here are the top winners of the night...

The Movie of 2021: Marvel’s female-led action movie ‘Black Widow’ was given the top movie prize. It starred Scarlett Johansson as Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow and focussed on the assassin-turned-heroin as she confronted her murky past.

The Comedy Movie of 2021: Ryan Reynolds excelled in the hit movie ‘Free Guy’, and was awarded for his efforts. The comedy, which also starred Jodie Comer and Joe Keery, featured Reynolds as a bank teller who find out he is actually a character in an online video game.

The Action Movie of 2021: Was there even any question of ‘Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings’ winning this award? Actor Simu Liu took the reigns as Marvel’s first Asian superhero and killed it with amazing martial arts sequences. Liu also took home the prize for Action Movie Star.

The Drama Movie of 2021: Emma Stone-starrer ‘Cruella’ took the prize thanks to its dramatic storyline that delved into the origin story of the villainous Cruella de Vil from the ‘Hundred and One Dalmatians’ franchise.

The Family Movie of 2021: Disney and Pixar’s heart-warming tale ‘Luca’ was surely a family favourite this year. It dealt with the story about a young boy who has to come to terms with being a sea monster.

The Male Movie Star of 2021: Dwayne Johnson cemented his place as the top movie star of the year thanks to his role as a steamboat skipper in the family movie ‘Jungle Cruise’.

The Female Movie Star of 2021: Scarlett Johansson had a much-publicised legal spat with Disney over her movie ‘Black Widow’, and how that things have been put to rest she can enjoy her new accolade.

The Show of 2021: Marvel hit it out of the park not just for their movies, but for the TV series ‘Loki’, starring Tom Hiddleston as the cheeky and troublemaking deity.

The Drama Show of 2021: It’s been 16 years since the medical drama released, but fans simply can’t get enough of ‘Grey’s Anatomy’. Ellen Pompeo also won The Female TV Star of 2021 for her long-running role as Meredith Grey on the series.

The series ended this June and its lead stars — Kim, Khloe and Kris — got on stage to thank fans. “This is a bittersweet moment for us because you guys have voted for us on our last season of Keeping up with the Kardashians,” Kim said. “It’s been an incredible 14-year ride, and all of the memories we have can never be replaced. We started the show with an idea of bringing our crazy family into your homes, and we could not have imagined that it would have lasted this long.” Kim Kardashian also won The Fashion Icon award.

The Bingeworthy Show of 2021: This award HAD to go to Netflix’s viral Korean series ‘Squid Game’. According to reports, it is Netflix’s most-watched show or film ever, with 1.6 billion hours viewed.

The Male Artist of 2021: Rapper Lil Nas X has had quite a year — from being embroiled in a sneaker controversy, to being slammed for a racy video. However, the ‘Montero’ singer is on top of the world, with even a Grammy nomination to his name.

The Female Artist of 2021: Adele has made a massive comeback with her first album in over five years, ‘31’. It’s likely that this award is just the first in a long line of accolades for her new emotional, post-divorce music.

The Group of 2021: South Korean pop sensations BTS have been on a high after a Grammy nomination and four concert dates. They’re currently on vacation, but that hasn’t stopped the wins. Their track ‘Butter’ was also named Song of 2021 and Music Video of 2021.
