2019 | Miss Universe 2018 Philippines' Catriona Gray (R) crowns the new Miss Universe 2019 South Africa's Zozibini Tunzi after a lavish ceremony filled with glitter and heartfelt speeches about female empowerment.

2018 | Miss Philippines Catriona Gray was named Miss Universe 2018 in the contest. She becomes the 67th beauty queen to hold the title. Gray is Filipina-Australian and 24 years old. She is the fourth Filipina to become Miss Universe, after Gloria Diaz, Margie Moran, and Pia Wurtzbach.

2016 | Iris Mittenaere (centre R) is crowned by former Miss Universe Pia Wurtzback. Miss France, 24, was crowned Miss Universe, a surprise winner whose name never came up in preliminary competitions that were once dominated by Latinas and Southeast Asian beauties — most of whom lost in the shortlists after many candidates turned political, global, and environmental activists.

2015 | Pia Alonzo Wurtzback from the Philippines was Miss Universe winner but for one brief moment, it appeared as if it might be a repeat win for Colombia. Colombia contestant Ariadna Gutierrez Arevalo was already wearing the crown as this year’s Miss Universe winner when host Steve Harvey returned to apologise. Harvey says it was his mistake and that he would take responsibility for not reading the card correctly that named contestant Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach this year’s winner and Colombia the first runner-up.

2014 | 2013 Miss Universe Gabriela Isler (R), crowns the 2014 Miss Universe, Paulina Vega of Colombia (L), during the Miss Universe pageant in Miami. The 22-year-old model and business student triumphed over 87 other women from around the world, and is only the second beauty queen from Colombia to take home the prize.

2013 | Miss Universe 2012 Olivia Culpo (R), places the crown on Miss Venezuela Gabriela Isler. The 2013 Miss Universe is a 25-year-old Venezuelan who appears on TV in her country and is an accomplished flamenco dancer.

2012 | American Olivia Culpo (L) was crowned Miss Universe 2012, beating out beauties from around the world to claim the coveted title.

2011 | Miss Angola Leila Lopes (L) is crowned the winner of the 2011 Miss Universe by Miss Universe 2010, Ximena Navarrete (R) in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Leila Lopes, a business student from the town of Benguela in her home country, was crowned Miss Universe after dazzling a panel of judges with her beauty and impressing them with her brain.

2010 | A 22-year-old Mexico woman won the Miss Universe pageant after donning a flowing red gown and telling an audience it's important to teach kids family values. Ximena Navarrete (C) of Guadalajara was first to answer an interview question and the last of 83 contestants standing in the headline-grabbing pageant on the Las Vegas Strip.
