Hollywood stars Sylvester Stallone, Denise Richards, and more find fame in Bollywood

The Hindi movie industry is known to rope in foreign actors in their films to increase diversity. However, a few of the Bollywood movies featuring these Western talents may not have been successful, the cameos were definitely memorable. Actors from other countries have managed to mark their place in the industry, making Bollywood home. A clutch of them are so good that they now call Bollywood their workplace. Stars who grew up outside India like Nora Fatehi, Britain-born Katrina Kaif and Canadian-Indian Sunny Leone are a few of the shining examples. But this gallery throws the light on Hollywood talents who plunged into Bollywood for a lark.

Sabbir Khan’s 'Kambakkht Ishq' didn’t garner much love from fans but the 2009 release saw Hollywood’s Denise Richards romancing action hero Akshay Kumar. Another high-profile appearance in this movie that fans may have missed is that of 73-year-old veteran actor Sylvester Stallone. The 'Rocky' sensation Stallone played the hero in one of the scenes, saving Kareena Kapoor Khan from goons in true Bollywood style.

In the same film, Hollywood star Denise Richard rubbed shoulders with Akshay Kumar and played his lover convincingly.

Another foreign actor who made a memorable appearance is Alice Patten who played the role of Sue in Rang De Basanti. Cast opposite Indian star Aamir Khan in the 2006 film, her character travels from London to India to make a film on freedom fighters in the country.

Kangana Ranaut, a shy girl in Vikas Bahl’s ‘Queen’, goes alone to Paris and Amsterdam on her honeymoon, after her fiancé breaks up with her just before her wedding. In Amsterdam, she meets a young Russian man named Oleksander, a name she can’t pronounce correctly. Oleksander was played by Mish Boyko, who is also known for his roles in Dracula Untold and Risen.

Known for her role in 'Cruel Intentions 2' and 'Broken Windows' among other movies, Sarah Thompson made an appearance in 'Raajneeti' as Sarah Jean Collins, girlfriend of Samar Pratap played by new dad Ranbir Kapoor. She was good in that brief appearance.

English actor Toby Stephens is know for his roles in Hollywood movies ‘The Great Gatsby’ and ‘Die Another Day’, among others. In Bollywood, he starred as Captain William Gordon alongside Aamir Khan character Mangal Pandey in the historical drama ‘Mangal Pandey: The Rising’.

Mexican actress Barbara Mori moved to Indian shores by romancing B-town's famous Hrithik Roshan in the romantic-thriller film ‘Kite’. The 32-year-old actress' Uruguayan-Japanese-Mexican roots made the move more easily as it was the biggest film if her career. It was not just a Bollywood film but a true international project, with dialogues in Hindi, English and Spanish.

Bollywood met British literature in this one as director Gurinder Chaddha transplanted Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth Bennett from Jane Austen’s celebrated novel 'Pride and Prejudice' into the modern day. Lizzie became Lalita (Aishwarya Rai Bachchan) and the inscrutable Darcy became an American businessman with hopes of setting up luxury hotels in India (Martin Henderson).

Ben Kingsley, whose credits include 'Gandhi', had his brush with Bollywood icon Amitabh Bachchan in 'Teen Patti'. He played math wizard.

"Teen guna lagaan dena padega”, was an iconic dialogue from the hit 'Lagaan' where you saw Hollywood actor Paul Blackthorne play the role of Captain Russell. He held his own against Bollywood legend Aamir Khan.
