Bollywood stars shine down on Zee Cine Awards 2020

Actor Hrithik Roshan performs. Bollywood stars who turned up in full force at the annual Zee Cine Awards 2020 proved that they know how to have fun and celebrate their work even without a stadium full of adoring fans chanting their name.

Due to the escalating concerns over Coronavirus spread, the ZCA organisers chose to keep this year’s ceremony a closed-door affair with no audience or general public among its guests. Only stars who took home awards and those who were on call to perform on stage formed the spine of the guest-list. The televised event will be aired on March 28. Despite the bleak scenario of growing health scare around the globe, the army of Bollywood stars who turned up to be a part of ZCA continued to go about their business of dancing on stage and taking home trophies.

Ranveer Singh turned up in in an multi-coloured, eclectic suit to mix things up on the fashion front. He was also one of the big winners of the night. Singh won the Best Actor (Male) in a Leading Role award for his performance as an underdog rapper in director Zoya Akhtar’s ‘Gully Boy’, while actress Taapsee Pannu won the Best Actress award for her role as a duplicitous woman in the hit legal thriller ‘Badla’, also starring Amitabh Bachchan.

Taapsee Pannu at the red carpet. Pannu took to Twitter to declare her win with: “The first one for [her character] ‘Naina Sethi’.” Singh called his multiple wins a ‘blessing’.

Actor Govinda and his wife Sunita Ahuja. Bunty Aur Babli 2 star Siddanth Chaturvedi won the Best Male Debutante trophy for ‘Gully Boy’, while Ananya Pandey won the female equivalent of the award for her turn in the glossy Karan Johar production ‘Student Of The Year 2’. She played a privileged, rich college student in the romantic comedy.

Actress Tara Sutaria. Bollywood’s versatile talent Ayushmann Khurrana was honoured with the Best Entertainer of the Year award, while Kartik Aaryan won the Best Comic Performance award for his role in ‘Pati Patni Aur Woh’. The Zee Cine Awards will air on Zee TV and Zee Cinema on March 28.
