Ranbir Kapoor is turning 40 today. This year is special as he got married to actor Alia Bhatt in April and the duo is expecting their first child. Here's a look at what Ranbir said about Alia making his life better.

Ranbir was recently seen in a sci-fi action film 'Brahmastra: Part-1 Shiva' alongside his wife Alia Bhatt, Mouni Roy, Amitabh Bachchan and south actor Nagarjuna. The film has collected over Rs 300 crores globally at the box office.

The actor is no stranger to controversy. Whether it’s girl trouble or media coverage hassles, here’s a look at the ‘Rockstar’ actor’s spotty past. Kapoor’s previously unstable love life and his Casanova image just added fuel to the fire.

Recently, during the live session, when the duo was asked why they are not actively promoting ‘Brahmastra’ in the way they do for other movies, Alia replied, “We will promote the film, and we will be everywhere but if the question you are asking is why we are not ‘phailod’ [spread all over] everywhere, right now our focus is...” It was at this point that Ranbir cut her off and pointed at his wife’s baby bump saying, “Well I can say somebody has phailod (referencing her weight gain).” However, he did add that his comment was meant as a joke. The ‘Sanju’ actor during the media interaction apologised for his comment and said: “Yes, absolutely. Firstly, let me start with, I love my wife with everything that I have in my life. And what happened on that, I think it’s a joke that didn’t turn out to be funny. I really want to apologise if I have triggered anyone. It was not my intention. So I want to say sorry to people who got offended or triggered. I spoke to Alia about it and she really laughed it off and she didn’t mind it. But I do have a bad sense of humour and sometimes it falls flat on my own face. So I am sorry if I have hurt anyone about it.”

Kapoor time and again has been slammed by several of his ex-girlfriends throughout the span of his career. Kapoor has often been called out for being a callus boyfriend. In one episode of ‘Koffee with Karan’, Bollywood star Sonam Kapoor said: “Ranbir is a great friend but I don’t know if he’s a great boyfriend. Honestly speaking. He’s a really nice guy. He’s got family values, and he’s really respectful. I’ve known Ranbir all my life. But as a boyfriend, I don’t know. She [referring to his ex-girlfriend Deepika Padukone] did a great job hanging around that long.” In return, Kapoor dubbed her a ‘drama queen’.

Kapoor and Padukone dated for two years — but it wasn’t all sunshine and flowers. It has also been reported that what broke them up was his alleged affair with Katrina Kaif.

His pictures with Kaif on a Spanish holiday made headlines at the time. The couple had a six-year relationship that ended in 2015. Did you know Kapoor was rumoured to have suffered a huge financial loss when Kaif decided to move on with her life. The couple’s penthouse in Mumbai reportedly cost them lakhs in monthly rent.
