8 movies coming to UAE cinemas in 2020

TENET Release date: August 27 | Starring: John David Washington, Robert Pattinson, Elizabeth Debicki, Dimple Kapadia and Michael Caine | Blockbuster auteur Christopher Nolan’s latest sci-fi epic is touted to be his grandest yet and is already earning praise among critics. MULAN Release date: September 4 | Starring: Yifei Liu, Donnie Yen and Jet Li | Based on the Chinese folklore ‘The Ballad of Mulan’ and a live-action adaptation of Disney’s 1998 animated film of the same name, the film stars Yifei Liu as a young Chinese maiden who disguises herself as a male warrior in order to save her father.

NEW MUTANTS Release date: September 10 | Starring: Maisie Williams, Anya Taylor-Joy, Charlie Heaton, Alice Braga, Blu Hunt and Henry Zaga | The long-delayed, superhero-horror flick finally hits theatres this autumn. The Marvel film follows five young mutants — Wolfsbane, Sunspot, Magik, Mirage and Cannonball — just discovering their abilities while held in a secret facility against their will, fight to escape their past sins and save themselves.

THE KING'S MAN Release date: September 17 | Starring: Stanley Tucci, Gemma Artenton, Harris Dickinson and Ralph Fiennes | A prequel and the third film in the Kingsman film series, ‘The King’s Man’ follows one man as he races against time to stop history’s worst tyrants and criminal masterminds as they get together to plot a war that could wipe out millions of people and destroy humanity.

WONDER WOMAN 1984 Release date: October 1 | Starring: Gal Gadot, Chris Pine, Pedro Pascal and Kristen Wiig | While much has been kept under wraps about director Patty Jenkins’ ‘Wonder Woman’ sequel, we know the film sees DC superhero Wonder Woman reunites with love interest Steve Trevor as she takes on the formidable villain Cheetah media businessman Maxwell Lord.

DEATH ON THE NILE Release date: October 22 | Starring: Kenneth Branagh, Gal Gadot, Armie Hammer and Letitia Wright | Kenneth Branagh reprises both his directorial role and that of the iconic detective Hercule Poirot in the film adaptation of the Agatha Christie novel. In this film, Poirot investigates the murder of a young heiress aboard a cruise ship on the Nile River.

BLACK WIDOW Release date: November 5 | Starring: Scarlett Johansson, David Harbour, Florence Pugh, O-T Fagbenle, and Rachel Weisz | In Marvel Studios’ action-packed spy thriller, Natasha Romanoff aka Black Widow confronts the darker parts of her ledger when a dangerous conspiracy with ties to her past arises. NO TIME TO DIE Release date: November 19 | Starring: Daniel Craig, Rami Malek, Lea Seydoux, Lashana Lynch and Ana de Armas | Starring Daniel Craig in his fifth and final role as James Bond, ‘No Time to Die’ finds 007 being recruited again five years after he left active service, hot on the trail of a mysterious villain armed with a dangerous new technology.
