With rents still dropping , Sharjah remains a favourite place to be for expats looking for affordable – and spacious - housing. The work-from-home culture resulting from the COVID-19 safety guidelines has also increased demand for larger units, and equipped with better amenities. All at rentals that tenants can feel comfortable with, according to Asteco’s second quarter report 2020. The reason behind its popularity is its location, right next to the Dubai border. Even more so now, this area appeals to residents who commute to Dubai for work, as this tends to cut down the time spent on the road dramatically. Al Qasimia: Named after the royal family that has ruled Sharjah since 1600 AD, Al Qasimia is one of the most popular areas for expats due its proximity to malls, supermarkets, schools, and medical centres.
