Look: Infinity pool and more – UAE-made super-yacht is now sea-fit

Stepping out into the high seas in some style – that’s what the Majesty 175 will be doing when handed over to its owner some time this year. The owner is a UAE businessman, who wishes to remain anonymous. The transaction value has not been identified.

For Gulf Craft, creating mega-yachts has become quite the habit. It’s shipyard in Umm Al Quwain is among the Top 7 in the world. With the Majesty 175, Gulf Craft has gone the extra distance.

The yacht is all of 780 GT (gross tonnage), giving it quite the heft and stability to take on the high seas whatever be their condition. It’s built specs are in accordance with UK’s Maritime and Coastguard Agency requirements for yachts over 500 GT.

The launch of this vessel was done at the 2016 Monaco Yacht Show. “Our team worked for four years at our facility in Umm Al Quwain to build this magnificent composite mega-yacht, our largest project to date,” said Mohamed Hussein Alshaali, Chairman of Gulf Craft.

What makes the Majesty 175 so special? It’s dimensions, for sure. But the comforts and element of space on board takes it to some exalted levels.

There is a 5-metre Infinity pool on the forward deck and a hybrid sky-lounge that can be converted into an open sun deck as and when the weather allows. The layout accommodates guests in seven staterooms and a crew of up to 10 members with six large crew cabins and a captain’s accommodation.

It’s all in the build mix – the vessel has been put together using composite materials such as carbon fibre and vinylester.

A beam of 9.62 metres – which is the vessel’s width - is what provides for the ample space on board. Despite the gross tonnage of 780, the Majesty 175 can cruise even in low-draft areas, drawing just 2.25 metres of water. The shallow draft also enables close beach access.

An Italian detailing – that’s what the Majesty 175 has going for it. The exterior and interior designs are by Cristiano Gatto Design Studio in Italy. The naval architecture is by Massimo Gregori of Yankee Delta Studio. All of this was in evidence at the first sea trial by the vessel. The Majesty 175 undertook a series of inclination experiments for multiple factors at sea, in which the top speed touched 17 knots powered by her twin MTU 12V 4000 M63 engines, each of which delivers 1500kW each.

“She has performed brilliantly on her first sea trial covering multiple factors, including the engines at full speed, the pair of generators, and fin stabilisers as well as the navigation and telecommunication systems,” said Capt. Patricia Caswell, Gulf Craft’s Quality Control Manager. “Preliminary noise and vibration levels are outstanding, and these will continue to improve when the entire interior elements are completed.”

For Gulf Craft, the launch and build of Majesty 175 pushes its credentials in the rarefied world of luxury yachts. The company, founded in 1982, started off with small fishing boats before setting its sights to bigger and luxe.
