Black Friday sales: UAE shoppers can bag up to 90 per cent off this weekend

Dubai: Unless you've sworn yourself off every form of social media and news, you will have seen that retailers are going above and beyond with offers this week, and this Sunday marks the end of the offers for most of these campaigns.

Black Friday is a global shopping extravaganza and retailers in the UAE jumped on this year's wagon with bigger and better offers than ever. Coinciding with that, Dubai and Abu Dhabi malls are running their seasonal 3-day Super Sale as well.

So, whether you like shopping online or in-store, there are brands offering up to 90 per cent off, in addition to bank offers, part-payment options and installment deals, free shipping, cash back vouchers and entries to draws for various prizes - including more shopping.

Some online retailers are taking the deals a tad longer, ending on November 28. Analysts consider the five-day Black Friday weekend — which includes the Monday after the holiday known as Cyber Monday — a key barometer of shoppers’ willingness to spend.

A few retailers are also running 'flash sales' for a couple of hours. The best way to keep updated about those is to use the brands' app platforms. However, especially given the high online traffic during shopping season, ensure you use protective measures for your data and payment details while purchasing online.

This is also a great time to stock up on non-perishable groceries at bargain prices.

One sector that is seeing rising prices and very few discounts is travel. Airfares are at least 35 per cent higher in some routes, a Gulf News report found - thanks to the upcoming Union Day weekend and festive season travel.

But, on most other things - from subscriptions and annual memberships to fashion, home decor and electronics, make the most of this sales weekend in the UAE.

Over the week residents have been rushing to malls and stores to take advantage of the deals on offer - family in tow.
