As part of an ambitious plan to diversify its oil-dependent economy, Saudi Arabia aims to emerge as a leading global tourist destination.

Last year, tourist numbers in the kingdom surged to over 100 million, comprising 77 million local visitors and 27 million tourist arrivals.

Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman has outlined a strategy aiming for 150 million tourists in the country by 2030, with 80 million being local tourists and 70 million arrivals from abroad.

The plan also aims to make Saudi Arabia rank among the world’s top 10 tourist attractions.

In recent years, the kingdom has implemented a range of facilities aimed at attracting more foreign tourists, such as issuing tourist visas upon arrival or online for citizens of various nationalities.
