In light of Monday’s Iowa caucuses, Twitter users turned to social media to share thoughts about the 2016 presidential campaign using the hashtag #ThisYearsElectionIsAlotLike.

The hashtag showed what people where expecting from the US elections. The hashtag was used to express optimism, pessimism, hope, fear, for saying that it’s time for change and a concern that change has gone too far. While humour was the tool used, the prevalent theme was despair.
