Social media brought the world together again on Saturday, when online campaigns for Earth Hour were shared. Many across the globe participated. Since its inception 10 years ago, Earth Hour has grown into a global event for climate change awareness. People across the world switched off electric powered lights and non-essential electronics for Earth Hour on Saturday night to raise awareness for global climate action.

Earth Hour: “Lights out in Turkey for #EarthHour! Check out the difference between switching the lights on and off in these pictures. We want to see how you celebrated YOUR #EarthHour - share your on/off pictures with us and help us inspire #ClimateAction - earthhour.org/donate-your-photos (Photo © WWF-Turkey)”

Shanthi Kesavaraman: “The Earth will be there forever if we observe the earth hour not only on March 25th but every day of our lives. My appreciation to all who take time to observe this for at least half an hour.”

@GlobalGoalsUN: “The lights are out at @UN Headquarters in #NYC for #EarthHour! A symbol showing that together we can all take #climateaction.”

@maliki_william: “So excited can help to make a change! @earthhour @WWF #EarthHour #EarthHour2017 #ChangeClimateChange #ClimateAction #IniAksiku #Indonesia”

#ClimateChange - Observation of the Earth Hour paved a way for pepole to talk about human activity that contributes to climate change. Many observed that action can become a part of people’s daily routines, to cut down power consumption and in turn greenhouse gasses.
