Noor Dubai is planning to open a medical camp in Gaza to repair eyesight problems after the coastal enclave was razed by Israelis in the recent onslaught. Qadi Saeed Al Muroushid, director-general of Dubai Health Authority says that getting supplies and help to the Gazans will not be easy, but once the green light comes, the agency will act fast. The sooner Noor Dubai can get to work, the better.

Inhuman armanents used by the Israelis on the civilian populatuion have resulted in a high proportion of corneal burns, caused by exposure to white phosphorus munitions. The immediate task will be to assess those injuries, and provide essential care to the desparate Gazans.

The organisation's expertise in treating eye injuries will be vital. Sadly, many Gazans will need corneal transplants and long-term specialised care. Thankfully, the Noor Dubai initiative has the specialised knowledge to provide such care.
