Inspired teachers produce an inspired generation

Teachers are the builders of the future generations of any country. Their passion towards the teaching profession is clearly reflected in their style, delivery and obviously in the end result of each session they take. The 21st century generation requires 21st century approach in teaching, which is either professional competence or behavioural competence. Professional competence relates to subject matter expertise and behavioural competence relates to self motivation aspects.

The most important factor to become a 21st century teacher is to think about teaching from outside the box. Holistically speaking, the teacher must develop the learning strategy keeping in view the whole curriculum methodology, partner with fellow teachers to develop the collaborative learning outcome and give due consideration to the institution’s vision, mission, value and code of conduct. Once the learning strategy is in place, learning action plan must be developed to execute the strategy.

A teacher’s self motivation level plays a vital role not only in developing the learning strategy but also in its execution and exceeding the learning expectations. Self motivation enables self leadership and self leadership fuels inspiration which brings out an empathetic teaching approach.

A great teacher is one who inspires his or her students with the teaching approach and delivers the fun lesson, which encourages participation. It is this powerful relationship that compels the students to look for teachers when in need as well as the willingness to lifelong learning and development that brings lasting changes in the personality, teaching approach and motivation level.

It is the love of learning that brings engagement in students and the teacher is the source to uncover that affection in each student. As a matter of fact, students spend more quality time with their teachers in school as compared to their homes. While teaching, each teacher is in the process of developing a future president, doctor, lawyer, engineer and above all a responsible global citizen, who after graduation must add value to the society he or she lives in. The patience and farsightedness of the teacher not only brings strength in the teaching delivery but inspires the students in the long run.
