The struggle of finding what you like
After graduation, you face a lot of decisions, including where to apply for jobs, what is the best place for you and what matches your needs. For me, a job is more than simply doing your task and getting paid for it. A job is doing something that you like, something that you find yourself in.
Choosing a path that you are interested in will help you in your quest to achieve your life goals and you will never feel bored.
Choosing your career with passion, gives you the same feeling that you get when you breathe in fresh oxygen in the morning. In my case, I find myself lucky to work in a place that is related to my major, and that too, when I am a fresh graduate. I deal with my tasks with pleasure and it makes me happy when I am doing it, but at the same time, I came to realise how caught up I am in the academic environment. It is a zone in which I feel comfortable, and so I struggled as I left it.
With that in mind, I came to realise that a lot of the things that we study are fun and interesting when you read about it in books, but not when you have to practice it.
You have to try different fields and places because only then will you be able to get a fair idea of what you are interested in. It is important to understand that the work environment is very different from the academic environment that you were so used to. Personally, after having worked for three months, I now have an idea of the career that I want to pursue and what I am passionate about.
By taking time to find what you are passionate about, not only will you feel at ease and happy, but you will also become more productive as a person, an employee and a resident. This in turn, will add to society and you will become an asset to your workplace and country.
