What can be done to stop children from overusing technology?
The above poll is based on the page A4 report ‘Are kids forgetting how to communicate?’ published in the Nation section of Gulf News on March 19.
According to the report, the overuse of technology is causing communication disorders in children. In Abu Dhabi, 14 per cent of children’s cases at the psychiatric division of Shaikh Khalifa Medical City (SKMC) in Abu Dhabi are related to communication delays and disorders.
Living in a digital age, adults as well as children have incorporated smart devices in their everyday activities and as a result, face-to-face interaction is declining. Considering that, we asked our readers whether they think that the abuse of technology is causing communication disorders in children. The majority or 9 in 10 readers agree that the overuse of technology is a problem that needs to be addressed. Are you a parent and do you struggle with getting your children to engage in physical play as opposed to playing on their smart devices? Share your experience with us at readers@gulfnews.com
