The above poll is based on the A6 report ‘Children spending more time in play’ published in the Nation section of Gulf News on February 24.

According to the Children’s Play Index, children’s physical activity doubled in 2015 compared to that in 2014, going from 46.2 minutes to 94.5 minutes.

With that in mind, we asked our readers how long they think that children should spend playing physically each day. The majority of our readers polled, or four in ten think that an hour of play time per day is enough, while nearly three in ten think that children should play as long as they want to.

While the increase in play time is a positive development, the report points that children are still lacking in engaging in creative activities such as problem solving and role playing.
