Egypt’s Al Watan daily said that the conference, which took place in Sharm Al Shaikh, was a great victory for the Egyptian people. “President Abdul Fattah Al Sissi, the Egyptian government and citizens were all successful in proving that the Egyptian people deserve a decent life and are ready to do the impossible in order to build a better future. It is time for the Egyptian people to bid farewell to poverty, illiteracy and disease, because it is time for them to live like all other peoples who are given their basic rights to a decent life. Al Sissi was able to prove that he is a capable leader and negotiator, and has perfectly managed to promote and follow-up in order to achieve this dream and [achieve] the impossible. The most important lesson is that the dream, leadership and execution must not all be shouldered by one man. The spirit of enthusiasm that Al Sissi has instilled in the hearts of the Egyptian people must now be transmitted to executive authorities.”

Saudi Arabia’s Al Riyadh newspaper focused on the meeting between His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, and Al Sissi. “Shaikh Mohammad reiterated his country’s political and economic support for Egypt and its people’s right to development, stability and growth. He also said that it was necessary to support Egypt during this historic phase, describing the country as the cornerstone of stability and as the security valve of the region due to its strategic weight. The Abu Dhabi Crown Prince also said that he was looking forward to the UAE’s effective participation in the conference, and also pointed out the promising opportunities and investment projects in various sectors that will be proposed during the event.”

Commenting on the issue, the UAE’s Al Bayan noted that the conference was a message that conveyed confidence in the Egyptian economy in the eyes of the international community. “The support of the UAE and its effective participation in the conference is due to the benefit it will have on economic development in Egypt and [the fact that it] will serve the investment projects the conference is teeming with. The conference is a new and real start for Egypt’s economy, which contributes to putting the country on the world investment map that will, in turn, create employment opportunities for the youth. It is necessary to incorporate the suggestions of the youth, paving the way for preparing and qualifying them to lead the country and become decision-makers.”

Through this conference, Egypt has shown that it is not only capable of attracting investment, but also that it is a highly lucrative investment destination, with major companies and individuals the world over clamouring to get involved, the pan-Arab newspaper Asharq Al Awsat observed. “It was important for Egypt to show to the world it had ‘awakened’ once again, as Al Sissi put it on Saturday, and for the international community to come together to support this key nation in the region and help its people out of their four-year period of misery. It was also essential that the attempts to torpedo Egypt’s new course backfired, even if those behind them may try again. Egypt is now back on track and moving forward with unstoppable momentum. Any attempt by its enemies to derail its course is now simply irrelevant.”
