How do they get in?

I live in the Greens and even though it’s already a secured place, there are a lot of those massage cards being put on our doorsteps and we always wonder who can enter the building without the access card (‘‘Arrest massage card distributors,’ say Dubai residents,’ Gulf News, August 19). I find it annoying and worrying. We are supposed to be secure. It’s very disturbing because this area is full of families with children and almost every day people can see these cards.

Not a big deal

I don’t understand what the big deal is. If you are interested, call the number and enjoy the massage, otherwise throw away the card and move on. I don’t think we need to make a big fuss over this. We are all grown ups.

For the police

I think this subject has been overdone. Stop raising the same issue every time. If you do find cards, just collect them and throw them in the trash bin. Secondly, don’t go there and stop confronting these card distributors yourself. It’s the work of the police to deal with these people, not yours, so call the police if you have issues with them.

Notice boards only!

We all face this problem. As a solution, the municipality can put notice boards in parking lots and other public areas. People can stick cards and other notices or advertisements in that. Additionally, the municipality should impose fines on establishments and people who put cards in other areas.

Hand out fines

Special teams should check the numbers on these cards and block them or hand out stringent fines. This team could also be in charge of fining people sticking posters on walls. When visiting areas such as theGold Souk in Deira and Bur Dubai, you will find walls decorated with posters and advertisements.

Creates garbage

I say live and let live! Why are people so irritated with this? All the big fast food chains are doing this. Every day I come home to see lots of restaurant brochures, free newspapers and product samples left at the entrance of house. I see no one complaining about this. Moreover, it seems clear to me that it is a form of effective marketing as companies will only do this if it was profitable. Why spend time getting irritated with finding marketing material on your car window when it is every where else around you? I have a problem with the people who get irritated and throw these cards on the street instead of disposing them in a trash can. I think they should think about the street cleaners who have to pick up these cards from the road in the hot sun.

Jail distributors

The authorities must place a zero-tolerance policy on such activities and punish not just the distributors but also the people working at these places, the landlords of the buildings and the customers who go to such places. The Dubai Police are very professional and competent — they have successfully maintained a very low crime rate. I am confident that they will get rid of this social evil once and for all.

Damaging my car

I don’t care if these massage centres are allowed to work or not. I don’t think they should be allowed to mess up someone’s private property. My car window gets sand and dust accumulated in it and sometimes the cards are pushed right inside the door. This is frustrating. I don’t have any hope that anyone will do anything about this.

Security breach

I live in International City with my family and there are a lot of bachelors and families with children in the same building. I caught the person who was putting these cards on the cars and asked for his ID card. He showed me some random ID and ran away. Following it, I’ve seen many women going door-to-door in residential buildings and selling DVDs. It’s like there is no security for the people living in International City.

Guilty of littering

The irony of it is that, in the end, we collect it from our cars and throw it out on the roads. So it makes us feel guilty. The authorities must stop allowing people to put these cards on private cars.

Inappropriate pictures

There should be tougher measures on these massage card distributors. Not only do those cards have inappropriate pictures that children might see, they litter the parking areas and public places as well.

Children collecting them

It is getting worse in International City. There are at least three to four cards on the windshield of my car on a daily basis. Another disturbing fact is that sometimes the cards have inappropriate pictures with telephone numbers. One day I saw small children collecting these cards and playing with them like they were ‘Uno’ cards and others were keeping them like it’s a stamp collection. The authorities are not taking any action to prevent such illegal activities. This must be stopped immediately.

Dangerous illegal business

I am so sick of this illegal distribution of cards that has been happening for a long time in International City. Every day we find at least five cards outside our apartment or on our car’s windscreen with inappropriate pictures printed on them.

It always seems really awkward if we have some guests visiting us and they see such visiting cards all over the building. I almost caught one of these card distributors when he was putting cards on my car’s windscreen, but he fled the scene. I assume that these people are very strong groups and can harm us by any means, so I have not tried to catch them again. I request the authorities to act and eliminate these illegal businesses.

Littering fine, at least!

It would be very easy to track down such centres. They print a phone number on the cards to track them down. Currently, people will face a hefty fine if they are littering on the roads or throwing anything out from a car. So are these card distributors also not creating the litter on the roads? Why is the law implementation absent here?

An easy arrest

Those men who are putting out these cards should be held by police for damaging the paint of the car and the rubber seal on the doors when they are trying to insert it on the car doors and windows. I was wondering why no one is taking any action on this matter when it would be easy to just call the advertised number and make arrests.

Belief in God

I think that religion is good but this makes me wonder whether people are good (‘Israelis chant ‘Death to Arabs’ at wedding,’ Gulf News, August 19). It’s better to respect each other’s beliefs so that we can build good futures. We are all from one God and I don’t think that it is important what religion we embrace.

If we love our Almighty creator, if we have love for each other, we must accept that religion is good and blessed. Religion cannot be used to further someone’s cause or to help their own issues. May Gob bless you all.

Fear and hate

Surely, hatred is the issue here. If we look at only two emotions, love and fear, hatred is based on a lack of one and an abundance of the other. That which we fear, we must hate.

Last hopes in Khan

This article about the Imran Khan’s campaign deteriorating seems biased (‘Pakistan’s Khan left isolated in civil disobedience call,’ Gulf News, August 19). It’s like it was written by Nawaz Sharif’s aides. Khan actually pulled in massive crowds, which could have been seen on any Pakistani news channel. The nation doesn’t want to pay taxes to a leadership with corruption allegations. The Gross Domestic Product (GDP) is going down, inflation is increasing and there are more power shortages than ever. It’s a total disaster and people consider Khan as their last hope.
