Give it a second chance

I took this photograph during our recent visit to Windsor, England. What attracted my attention was the line “Give gum a second life”. Wasted chewing gum can be recycled into plastic products. It sounds like a good viable solution to save the pavements in Dubai and to get rid of the white sticky patches one witnesses while walking. This could be a small step towards reduce, reuse and recycle. A small thought — think before spitting the chewing gum on the pavements.

Four decades later

I had seen the National Day Voices special in Gulf News that is published every Friday. I am an Indian pupil studying in the eighth grade and I have been residing in the UAE for the past 11 years. My family and I certainly consider it a second home. The country is definitely a mixture of age-old heritage and modern architecture. During the past few years the UAE has seen a huge change in every way. I would like to salute the nation on its fourth decade.

A success story

The UAE is a success story in terms of human development, human rights, tolerance, open-mindedness and flexibility when it comes to dealing with others (“Taking the vision forward”, Gulf News, November 14). So, for those reasons I hope for the prospective progress of the country.

So much done

Imran Khan has all the capabilities to attract the youth (“Khan raises Pakistan hopes for change”, Gulf News, November 14). He is undoubtedly a man whose actions speak much before words.
He won the cricket World Cup for Pakistan, built a hospital for the poor and established a university to make his goals clear. I hope that he turns our dreams about our beloved homeland to reality.
