India is being put down

I have never read a positive article about the new government of India in Gulf News. I always see negative articles being published. There is nothing written about Pakistan.

Take the example of the recent report regarding the gun battle in Kashmir (“Militants killed as three-day Kashmir gun battle ends”, Gulf News, October 13). The newspaper is glorifying them by calling them ‘Kashmir militants’. How does the newspaper know that they are Kashmiris? The civilian who takes arms in his or her hands for killing innocent people is a terrorist, not a militant.

I am a regular reader of Gulf News and request the editors to change such biased reporting immediately.

Pakistan in negative light

I am writing to complain about what I see as biased news reporting by Gulf News, in particular regarding the India-Pakistan conflict. I believe that the newspaper is not giving a balanced picture of current events, by misrepresenting the actual facts, and portraying Pakistan in a very negative light. As a Pakistani expatriate, I am very uncomfortable and disappointed by such continually biased news reporting.

Blatantly biased?

I am very disappointed with the blatantly biased coverage of Gulf News regarding Pakistan and India’s political situation, since the Uri incident. Gulf News has showed a clearly Indian nationalistic stance and its news coverage does not conform to the established quality standards of news journalism.

Provide quality content

Gulf News is all about India’s news. It’s a shame that Gulf News has failed to ensure this quality of content. No disrespect intended to any religion — this is just a critical remark, after long observation of the newspaper’s content.

The situation in Kashmir has seen tempers rise on both sides of the India-Pakistan border. When this happens, readers feel that Gulf News is biased towards or against a particular country. This is not the case. Gulf News has always remained neutral in its stance and takes great care to report facts on the ground objectively. However, when this is done, it may hurt the preconceived notions or perceptions of some of our readers. This is purely unintentional.

On their part, readers must try to understand what is happening in areas of conflict and then disseminate the rhetoric that accompanies it.
