As a resident of Al Nahda, Sharjah, I would like to bring to the notice of the authorities the situation we are facing at Al Nahda Park roundabout.

Ever since a popular hypermarket opened its doors to residents in the area, the roundabout has become a nightmare for drivers — especially during evenings.

In the morning, fortunately, there are not many pedestrians, as the hypermarket is closed. The only thing to contend with is the regular rush hour traffic.

However, in the evenings, there are people in the middle of the road pushing shopping trolleys. Sometimes children also dash across the road.

Generally, before one enters the roundabout, one tends to look to the left to check if any vehicles are approaching.

But once the motorist proceeds, it is shocking to see people in the middle of the road, running helter-skelter. I have also experienced many near-misses.

The ideal solution would be to place a traffic signal at the roundabout in order to avoid accidents and casualties.
