Ajman Police urges caution near training vehicles, here are the key rules to follow
While driving on UAE roads, you may encounter training vehicles from various driving schools. These cars are typically driven at lower speeds, and learner drivers may make mistakes as they practise essential driving skills. Recognising this, Ajman Police has recently issued key guidelines for motorists to ensure their own safety and that of learner drivers.
Learner drivers are still mastering basic vehicle control and may react too slowly in hazardous situations. This increases the risk of errors on the road. To ensure a safer driving environment, follow these tips when encountering a training vehicle:
Recognise that the learner driver is still developing their skills - Exercise patience and understanding when driving near them.
Approach with caution - Be prepared for any sudden or unexpected movements the learner driver may make.
Maintain a safe following distance - This allows the learner driver space to manoeuvre, especially in case of sudden stops.
Avoid reckless overtaking - Only overtake when it is safe to do so, ensuring that your actions do not confuse or startle the learner driver.
Refrain from unnecessary horn use - Excessive honking may cause panic, leading to hesitation or erratic movements at intersections and turns.
Stay alert for potential emergencies - A learner driver’s inexperience may lead to sudden stops, swerving, or other unpredictable behaviour.
As per the UAE Traffic Law, individuals learning to drive must adhere to the following regulations:
A licensed driving instructor must always be present in the vehicle.
Seatbelts must be worn at all times.
A valid learning permit must be carried while driving.
