Dubai: The Taqdeer Award, dedicated to recognizing excellence in workforce welfare practices, has witnessed a surge of international interest. With the award's recent expansion into a global initiative, over 140 assessors from 20 countries have registered for the current award cycle.

These experts play a vital role in assessing the participating companies’ commitment to the welfare of their workers and the implementation of relevant policies, procedures, and systems. Assessments are based on the comprehensive Taqdeer Award framework and criteria, highlighting organisational practices and achievements in workforce welfare.

What is the Taqdeer Award assessment framework?

The Taqdeer Award framework assesses companies on three main criteria: corporate systems and resources, culture and labour relations, and results and impact. It includes 12 sub-criteria and over 40 sub-criteria elements. This rigorous framework aligns with the UAE Labour Law and regulations, along with international best practices. Resources like the Human Rights Declaration and international labour conventions also contribute to the rigorous criteria used by assessors during assessment and site visits.

Speaking to Gulf News earlier this year, Major-General Obaid Muhair bin Suroor, Deputy Director-General of the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Dubai, Chairman of the Permanent Committee of Labour Affairs in Dubai, and Chairman of the Taqdeer Award had said that the framework becomes a great blueprint for companies to enhance workforce productivity and employees’ quality of life and prosperity.

Experienced assessors return to make a difference

The assessors, who began registering earlier this year, are seasoned professionals with expertise in human resources, awards assessment, business excellence, strategy and performance, and quality and facilities audits, with a strong focus on workforce welfare and industry experience.

Once the assessor applications are reviewed based on their work and assessment experience, industry expertise, etc., potential candidates are invited to attend Taqdeer assessor training. After training, additional evaluation is carried out and the assessors’ commitment is confirmed, leading to the final approval of assessors, who are then assigned to assessment teams to begin the assessment for the participating companies.

The 140+ registered assessors include not only new talent but also seasoned assessors who have returned to the Taqdeer assessment family. They recognise the significance of the Taqdeer Award in setting global workplace care and assessment standards and are committed to contributing to the award’s mission of making a positive impact on people and the community at large.

While the experience of conducting these assessments can be a valuable credential for assessors, the flexible, smart assessment system deployed by the Taqdeer Award has also contributed to the high turnout.

International Reach through Diverse Assessment Methods

Taqdeer's smart assessment methods ensure a thorough evaluation process regardless of an assessor's location. The rigorous assessment process involves coordination between assessors, participating companies, and the Taqdeer Award office team.

Desktop assessments are carried out by assessment teams before the site visits. The assessment is facilitated by the online platform that includes assessment templates and scoresheets, culminating in auto-generated assessment feedback reports based on the final consensus of the assessment team.
