Dubai: The UAE has a global reputation for being a shopping hub and a big role is played by the malls in the UAE. Among all the emirates, Dubai has the distinction of having the most malls. For a population of three million people in the city, Dubai has 65 malls. Here is a list of just a few of the more popular malls in the city.

Dubai Mall

One of the biggest shopping malls in the world, Dubai Mall is a must-visit destination for tourists, given the iconic Burj Khalifa and Dubai fountain shows that take place every evening at an interval of 30 minutes.

There are two buses that service The Dubai Mall every 16 minutes: route 27 from the Deira Gold Souk station and route 29 from Ghubaiba bus station.The buses arrive and depart from the tourist drop-off area located in front of the Grand Drive Entrance, Lower Ground Floor of The Dubai Mall.

There is also a coach service that takes visitors from different locations in Palm Jumeirah, Dubai Marina and DP World to Dubai Mall.

Mall of the Emirates

Mall of the Emirates is perhaps best known around the world as the mall that has a ski slope. However, there is a lot more to this mall, which is one of the go-to places for shopaholics in the UAE. Not only does the mall house almost all the top fashion brands, it also has popular sales that offer big discounts to shoppers.

If you wish to take public transport, there is a metro station for Mall of the Emirates on the Red Line.

City Centre Deira

This is one of the country’s most visited malls, located centrally in Dubai. It is also one of the oldest malls in Dubai, setting up in 1995.

City Centre Mirdif

City Centre Mirdif is another popular shopping destination for UAE residents, with a sprawling 196,000 square metres of retail space.

Features:

Little Explorers (children’s play area), Magic Planet, iFLYDubai (indoor skydive experience), cinemas, bowling centre and more.

Location:

The mall is on Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Road, in Mirdiff. If you wish to take public transport, the nearest station is the Rashidiya Metro Station on the Red Line. RTA Bus F10 is available that transports to the mall from Rashidiya Metro Station.

Mercato Shopping Mall

This mall in Jumeirah has been a community favourite for many years. Apart from the food court and top fashion brands, the mall also organises the ‘Arte market’, where UAE-based artists sell their handmade items.

Features:

Dubai Festival City

The Dubai Festival City Mall is part of a larger complex of Dubai Festival City. The larger complex has the only Ikea store in Dubai, with a second soon to open in another part of Dubai. It also houses Ace Hardware and Plug-Ins standalone shopping centres. Within the mall, shoppers can enjoy a lot more than good deals, with Dhow rides and a Guinness-record holding light, water and fire show every day.

A relatively smaller mall, compared to others in Dubai, this mall caters to the Muhaisnah and Al Qusais community and provides great deals for the budget shopper as well.

Dubai Outlet Mall

This mall, despite being outside the main city area is quite popular thanks to the factory outlet theme, where brand-conscious shoppers can get good deals.

Features:

Apart from having factory outlets of several top brands, the mall also has a food court, a children’s play area and several activities for the family.

The mall is located on Dubai-Al Ain road E66, right after you cross E611 headed towards Al Ain.
