Dubai: What is the penalty in the UAE for assailing a female in public, by words or actions? The UAE’s Public Prosecution posted an awareness message on its official social media channels to educate people of the law and the legal implications of such criminal activity.

In the post, the UAE Public Prosecution referred to Article 359 of the UAE Penal Code, which states that in case anyone assails a woman on a public road, or a frequented place in an indecent manner with words or actions, they shall be sentenced to detention for a term of up to one year and or a fine not exceeding Dh100,000.

Articles 358 and 359 of the UAE Penal Code stipulate the punishment for indecent or disgraceful behaviour towards women.
