Ten joys that are overrated

1. Dressing up for that special somebody... And all that person has to say is, “Is that what you’re going to wear?”

2. A family holiday... Sun, sights and plenty of adventure and then a day later your little one complains, “I’m bored, I wanna go home.”

3. An hour-long massage... Your shoulder muscles thank you for the treat but an hour spent battling traffic back home makes you wonder why you even bothered.

4. A fun-filled afternoon at the water park... Why don’t the pictures say the same? Limp hair, a swim suit that reveals a bit too much and sunburn. Not again!

5. Pay a small fortune to cover your tell-all grey strands... And then a fortnight later they show up again just when you don’t want them to.

6. A day out with your teenage kid... He spends his time texting his friends and checking Facebook.

7. Having a housekeeper look after you and the family the whole week... And when the weekend arrives, it’s DIY as it’s her day off too.

8. The pleasures of the great outdoors... And you come home with sand between your toes.

9. It’s a pleasure when men take over the barbecue... But the cleaning after – now shouldn’t that be a part of the job profile as well?
