Move over Jessie J, Noel Gallagher and Brian May, the new stars of the London Olympics 2012 have been discovered.
Team GB athletes including Jessica Ennis, Chris Hoy and Victoria Pendleton have recorded their own version of Queen’s Don’t Stop Me Now and the hits on YouTube are increasing by the day.
The clip, opened by none other than David Beckham, shows the athletes miming along to the Queen classic, singing into pretend microphones from brooms to star wands. Blow up guitars and table tennis bats are used for the classic air guitar moments from the second Beckham says “action” acting as musical director.
Ennis won the gold medal for the heptathlon, while cyclist Sir Chris Hoy picked up two golds. Now-retired track cyclist Victoria Pendleton scored both a gold and silver medal in her last ever Olympic Games, while Louis Smith picked up a silver and bronze medal in gymnastics.
Rower Pete Reed, who also features in the video, won gold in the men’s coxless four.
