Road to recovery

Zulu the stallion has shown miraculous improvement after the therapy with needles

Zulu's proud owner for the past two years, Sarah Hadfield from England has been a Dubai resident for the past 16 years. A horse rider herself, she was given Zulu by a friend to help bring him back to good health. The gorgeous 18-year-old stallion had a weak back and suffered from muscle build-up. This was due to not receiving the right form of exercise, nutrition or medical care for a period of time. To restore his lost health, Sarah reached out for the aid of Josephs, who has been treating Zulu for eight months — with miraculous results.

The treatment started with once-a-week sessions, and is now being done only once a month as part of a maintenance programme.

From a horse that hardly bends, the loving Zulu now hugs his healer while it gets the treatment. It has also shown remarkable changes, such as being very relaxed in his back, being able to lift its front legs in the air, in addition to developing muscle all over his body. Generally, the whole body structure has changed as a result of the caring treatment.

The treatment costs Dh300 for a one-hour session. When asked how she felt about investing so much money in the treatment, Sarah replied: "I can't put any value on it." She believes the amazing results are worth every penny. She would give anything to see her kind stallion healthy and well. That also includes putting her personal fear of needles behind her, and staying close to Zulu during the whole process.

Sarah never doubted alternative medicine, and said: "If it worked for humans, then it will surely work for horses. Since animals in general have no conception of what's going to happen."

Last April, Zulu took part in a dressage competition at the Polo Club, and came in 5th. Undoubtedly outstanding for the gentle horse's first big competition.
