The newly crowned Miss India Anukreethy Vas is a state-level athlete and a trained dancer. With an aim to become a model, the 19-year-old student of Loyola College thoroughly enjoys acting and riding motorbikes. In an interview with India Times, Vas expressed her love for being in front of the camera and working alongside photographer and producer Atul Kasbekar.

Trained under actress and mentor, Rakul Preet Singh, Vas wants to be an established actress.

Vas was previously crowned Femina Miss Tamil Nadu and Rajnigandha Pearls Miss Beautiful Smile. Along with her new title as Miss India 2018, she was also awarded Miss Beautiful Smile 2018 at the recent pageant.

The top five contenders were asked a common question by host and actor Ayushmann Khurrana on who’s the better teacher in life, success or failure? Vas’ assertive and powerful answer to her final question made her worthy of the honour.

“I would say failure is a better teacher. When you get continuous success in life, you feel contended at a point which stops our growth. When you face failure, the soul fights within and you will continue to work harder until you reach the goal,” Vas said.

Raised by a single mother, she acknowledges the hard work, support and the confidence of her mother throughout her beauty pageant journey. Vas claims that it was only her mother who stood beside her through her struggles.

“It has always been the failures in my life which have brought me to this position. I feel all the criticism and failures have made me the confident and independent woman in the society. Experience is always the best teacher. Even though the failures may haunt you, the success will wish you,” she added.

Vas desires to fulfil her mother’s dream and become an interpreter. Vas is also keen to learn different languages from around the world.
