Dubai to host peace convention
Three-day Dubai International Peace Convention opens at the Dubai World Trade Centre on Thursday
Dubai: The Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award For World Peace will be given during the Dubai International Peace Convention, which opens at the Dubai World Trade Centre on Thursday.
The award is meant to honour those who contributed in the maintenance of world peace.
The initiative - under the guidance of His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai - is aimed at spreading peace around the world through the peace convention.
Organisers say the three-day convention is aimed at promoting peace, understanding and harmony in the light of the Quran and teachings of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH).
Thirteen prominent scholars have been invited as speakers at the event, including Shaikh Mishary Al Afasy of Kuwait, Zakir Naik of India and Yusuf Estes of the US.
