Dubai: American band Train, all set to perform in Dubai on Friday (February 18), has won the Grammy for best performance by a pop duo for the single 'Hey Soul Sister' - their most successful number yet.
The award was handed out by the Recording Academy early on Monday morning Dubai time at the 53rd annual Grammy Awards held in Los Angeles.
The song, off the band’s fifth album Save Me San Franciso, has scored more than 4.6 million digital downloads ever since its release in 2009.
Speaking to tabloid! ahead of their performance, drummer Scot Underwood said the band was ‘excited’ to perform in Dubai.
"I've heard so much about the architechture over there which I'm looking forward to seeing," he said. "I've also heard the people are very friendly and warm."
Formed in 1994, Train first won a Grammy in 2002 with their single 'Drops of Jupiter (Tell me)" for Best Rock Song. Although nominated in 2004, this year’s award will be their second win.
Train will perform on the closing night of the Dubai International Jazz Festival at the Dubai Media City.
