I have participated in the Walk for Education organised by Dubai Cares for the past five years. Dubai Cares organises this walk, which calls upon residents and organisations in the UAE to walk three kilometres in solidarity with the millions of children in developing countries that walk long distances on a daily basis to go to school.

We enjoyed walking and cheering all along the way and even our youngest participant, Avishi Chauhan, who is only five years of age completed the walk. Our members also cheered a 70-year-old supporter, who is currently visiting his sons living in Dubai. He read about the walk in the newspaper and made sure that one of his sons dropped him to the venue.

Synergy promoted the walk through social media and has witnessed a rise in the number of participants every year. We have a dedicated page for supporting the cause. We ask all the members of society to reach out and find how they can at least support and teach one child and make a difference.

The group is participating in the “What Works — WellBeing” initiative by Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA). We are the chosen partners this month to share our experiences with educators including school principals and teachers.
