Society must do their part to support people with special needs

The Walk for Autism was held on Saturday, April 20 at the Zabeel Park in celebration of International Autism Awareness Month.

The event was supported by the UAE Red Crescent and in collaboration with Dubai Healthcare City and designed to create awareness about children affected by autism in the community.

I attended the event as a volunteer and was glad to dedicate my time to such a cause, as it helps foster awareness about autism and those affected by it through a fun, healthy walk.

I believe we should all do our part to support people with special needs and try to help integrate them into mainstream society as much as possible.

We should not laugh at them, but rather support them by making them feel important and special, not underpriviledged.

I feel for such people and want to help them in as many ways as possible and my involvement in such walks is one way I can. I encourage all readers to do what they can to help this cause.
