While the world celebrates the victory of Floyd Mayweather Jr over Manny Pacquiao, is enough being done to curb violent domestic abuse against women by sports stars?

Has this high-profile ‘fight of the century’ which saw Mayweather win millions of accolades in Las Vegas on Saturday night (Sunday morning UAE), also become a stage to raise awareness against such abuse?

In June 2004, Mayweather was found guilty on two counts of battery against two friends of Harris’ and again received a suspended sentence. However, Deadspin reports, the verdict was later vacated and the charges were eventually “dismissed per negotiations”, according to boston.com.
