Reader raises concern over a dark pathway in the Bur Dubai area.
Dubai
I would like to bring the attention of the authorities to an issue that I have been witnessing. In the Bur Dubai area, there is a pathway that leads to the Bur Dubai Abra Station. I use this path to walk to the station on Thursday mornings. I usually leave home at 6am and when I arrive at the entrance to the pathway, all I see is darkness. The alley is completely dark and there are no lights to illuminate the area ahead.
It is worse during the earlier months of the year because in the winter, the sun rises much later and it is still dark at 6am. This has been an issue of concern for me as I believe that it is dangerous to be walking through a pathway that is covered in darkness. I have seen women and children use this way, too, and am concerned for their safety.
During the day time, the area is lively, with lots of people walking around and visiting the shops and restaurants nearby. But, after midnight, the lanes are very dark.
I request the concerned authorities to look into the issue and install some lights in this lane, which would make the place safer for pedestrians to use in the early hours of the day.
