Some of the Philippines top celebrities had a blast in Boracay at the recently concluded Goma Cup, a celebrity golf tournament spearheaded by Richard Gomez.

Boracay is hailed by a Yahoo! Travel survey as one of the Top Ten Beaches in the World, .

The event was last staged in 2002, so this year's event was considered a reunion for Gomez's friends and other celebrities who made Goma Cup one of the more popular celebrity and sports events in the country.

Among those who joined the fun and competition were Martin Nievera, Pops Fernandez, Jay Manalo, John Estrada, Joanne Quintas, Bubbles Paraiso, and Geneva Cruz who were fighting for the prize of a P1 million (Dh83,000) Omega watch.

Celebrities also helped clean up Boracay in support of Earth Day, picking up trash left by tourists and visitors who filled every square inch of the eight kilometre beach during the Easter holidays.

Gomez told a Showbiz Tsismis mole that he is still unsure whether the event would be annually or every two years.

"The response from sponsors for this year's event has been absolutely amazing. We thought we would have a difficulty putting together the sponsors, given the economic situation. But everything went well so we hope we can do it again next year," he said.
