Rami Al Ali’s ready-to-wear

We might be in the depths of shorts-and-t-shirts weather, but there’s no denying that the fancy-pants season is nigh. For those of you with plans for galas and balls in your calendars (the opening night of the Dubai Opera, perhaps?), it’s time to start shopping for red-carpet wear. With the autumn-winter wear arriving in stores soon, already on the racks at Harvey Nichols and Galeries Lafayette is Rami Al Ali’s ready-to-wear collection, a range of feminine gowns in forest greens, twilight blues and soft pinks. Here are a couple of our favourites.

Michael Kors backpack

This editor has been toying with the backpack trend for a while, but many of the high-street options have a decidedly high-school feel about them, which is great, if you feel in that age bracket. These new versions from Michael Kors, part of the Dalia collection (Dh2,020) are sleeker options, and we love the colourways. (The range also includes a shoulder tote.)

New from Chanel

There’s a new Chanel N°5 coming next month. Just after announcing Lily-Rose Depp as the face of its fragrances, the French house has added a new variation on the classic scent. The original scent was created in 1924, and later made into an eau de toilette, eau de parfum and more recently, Eau Premiere. N°5 L’Eau, what the brand calls “an ideal dose of freshness”. The company is at pains to say it’s “not a cologne... nor is it a diluted version of the original fragrance”. You’ll be able to decide for yourself when it hits UAE counters in September, Dh485 for 50ml and Dh687 for 100ml.
