Ramadan greetings are being delivered in abundance this week, as the holy month is officially upon us. A handful of celebrities and familiar faces have also taken to Twitter to wish their fans and followers a blessed month. Here are a few of their messages.
Shonda Rhimes
Shonda Rhimes, showrunner of Grey’s Anatomy, Scandal and How to Get Away with Murder, posted an article from her website, Shondaland, titled how ‘How to Give Back During Ramadan’. Alongside the link, she wrote: “Today, I’m telling you that you can’t be a bystander to that hate. This Ramadan, do the work to be a part of the solution.”
Scooter Braun
Talent manager Scooter Braun, best know for representing the likes of Justin Bieber and Ariana Grande, tweeted: “Happy Ramadan to all my Muslim friends out there. Love and Light.”
Halsey
Pop star Halsey tweeted: “Ramadan Mubarak! If you are observing, I hope you have a pleasant and productive Ramadan. Wishing you personal growth and happiness.”
Krept & Konan
Krept, one half of the rap duo Krept & Konan, referenced their latest record and tweeted: “Ramadan Mubarak everyone. Crepes and cones for iftar.”
DC Comics
Publishing powerhouse DC Comics took to Twitter with an illustration of Green Lantern, who beamed a ‘HAPPY RAMADAN’ greeting from his ring. The account wrote: “Ramadan Mubarak! Wishing you joy and blessings this month.” (Comic writer Saladin Ahmad responded to DC’s tweet with a message of his own: “It’s a small thing but a Green Lantern Ramadan greeting is this [sic] sort of thing I wouldn’t have *dreamed of* as a kid. Thanks guys.”)
Sami Yusuf
Singer Sami Yusuf posted a new track, Al Faqir (Poverty), as a ‘small gift’ to his fans. He tweeted: “Ramadan Kareem! May God bless and help all the poor and destitute of the world. Let’s pray for them and give what we can in this holy month.”
Yuna
Singer-songwriter Yuna wished her followers well, tweeting: “Have a beautiful Ramadan everyone, may your Ramadan be filled with patience, love, peace and goodness. Love you all so much!”
Yusuf Islam (Cat Stevens)
British singer-songwriter Yusuf Islam, known as Cat Stevens before his 1977 conversion to Islam, tweeted: “Wishing those observing the sacred month of Ramadan a mighty peace. Let us take the time to remember and help those less fortunate, embracing this opportunity for mindfulness and self-reflection.”
Fousey
Palestinian-American vlogger Fousey, who has upwards of 10 million subscribers on his YouTube channel, posted to twitter: “A MASSIVE Ramadan Mubarak to all. It’s a very trying time for us all. Please keep your thoughts and prayers to everyone suffering back in our homes. Wish you a blessed month.”
Jeremy McLellan
American comedian and political satirist Jeremy McLellan tweeted: “Whether you’re starting today or tomorrow, I want to wish a very blessed Ramadan to all the Muslims around the world, especially those in Palestine, Syria, Kashmir, India, Yemen, Myanmar, and everywhere else where people may not be able to celebrate in peace.”

Actress and activist Mia Farrow wrote: “Ramadan Mubarak to all Muslim friends around the world.”
Cynthia Nixon
Actress Cynthia Nixon, who is also running for governor of New York, tweeted: “For hundreds of thousands of Muslim New Yorkers, Ramadan is a time of reflection, renewal, and family. To everyone fasting and celebrating this month: Ramadan Mubarak!”
