Cody Simpson

Australian singer-songwriter Cody Simpson is moving on from his West Hollywood town home of three years. He’s put the two-bedroom, 2.5-bathroom residence up for sale at $1.395 million (Dh5.1 million).

The end unit, one of six in a gated complex, has been completely remodelled. It features 170 square metres of contemporary living space, high ceilings and distressed-wood floors. Two private balconies, a ground-floor patio and a rooftop deck extend the living area outdoors.

The updated kitchen and dining room area overlook the step-down living room, which has a fireplace and a wall of built-ins. There are walk-in closets in each bedroom plus an office/loft on the top floor.

An attached garage provides parking for two vehicles.

Since being discovered on YouTube in 2009, Simpson, 21, has released three studio albums, the most recent of which, Free, was produced by Cisco Adler. He started his own record label, Coast House, in 2015 and last year formed the band Cody Simpson and the Tide.

Outside of music, Simpson has competed on Dancing With the Stars and had a guest role on the show Cougar Town.

TOM PETTY

A retreat owned by rocker Tom Petty at the time of his death is on the market in Lake Sherwood, an area near Thousand Oaks, for $5.495 million. A year ago the home was listed for $5.895 million, records show.

Set at the end of a steep road on a private cul-de-sac, the rustic home has three bedrooms and three bathrooms within its 492 square metres of living space. There are lake and mountain views from the master suite, living and dining rooms and balconies.

Built in 1931 and later expanded, the house features hardwood floors, vaulted and beamed ceilings and a massive fireplace in the great room. Locally sourced fieldstone lines the exterior, the courtyard entry and parts of the interior.

Outdoors, lush landscaping and mature olive and cypress trees give the property a relaxed vibe. At the edge of the property is 38 metres of lake frontage, a boat ramp and a dock.

Petty, who died last year at 66, gained fame in the late 1970s as the frontman of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. The band’s hits include Breakdown, Free Fallin’ and Don’t Do Me Like That.

The singer-songwriter later embarked on a successful solo career that included the albums Full Moon Fever and Highway Companion.

Petty bought the home more than a decade ago for about $4.41 million, records show.

MOBY

Electronic-music pioneer Moby is gearing up for a release in the historic Los Feliz neighbourhood.

An English traditional home that was renovated by the DJ and musician has a sale pending, according to the Multiple Listing Service, but backup offers are still being accepted.

The asking price is $4.495 million.

$4.495m Will buy you a house with two master suites for a total of five bedrooms.

Set on a corner lot, the walled and hedged 1926 house incorporates a fresh aesthetic while retaining such original details as groin vault ceilings and detailed fireplace surrounds.

Tall windows and crisp white wainscoting are among features in the dining room, which holds one of three fireplaces.

The living space, at 431 square metres, includes an updated kitchen, a grand living room and a family room with walls of built-ins.

There are two master suites for a total of five bedrooms and seven bathrooms.

On the lower level, a secret entrance connects an office and guest suite to a bathroom and steam room.

A flagstone-surrounded swimming pool and spa, sitting areas and mature trees make up the grounds.

Moby, whose legal name is Richard Melville Hall, rose to fame in the 1990s for his electronic dance music, including the 1999 electronica album Play.

More recently, the 52-year-old released the album More Fast Songs About the Apocalypse last year.

He has another album, Everything Was Beautiful and Nothing Hurt, due out this month.

Three years ago, he ventured into restaurant ownership, opening the vegan bistro Little Pine in Silver Lake.

Moby bought the property two years ago for $3.4 million. He previously owned the storied Wolf’s Lair compound in Hollywood Hills and owns other property in Los Feliz.

BECK

Grammy-winning singer-songwriter Beck and wife Marissa Ribisi have sold their Gerard Colcord-designed home in Brentwood for $3.44 million.

Set on a tree-filled acre in Mandeville Canyon, the 1964 Brittany Tudor has been refreshed and updated inside and out. Features include exposed brickwork, half-timbering and thick hand-hewn beams that top the main living areas. Large picture windows bring leafy views into the living room, which has a brick fireplace.

$3.44m Was the selling price for the Gerard Colcord-designed home.

Upstairs, the home’s dormer windows create a space for a desk and reading area. Three bedrooms, two full bathrooms and an office also lie on the second floor. A guest/bonus room with open and beamed ceilings sits above the detached garage.

Patios, lawn, mature trees and hedges fill the grounds. Also incorporated in the redesigned landscaping is a private trail that runs up the back hillside.

Beck, 47, won an album of the year Grammy in 2014 for Morning Phase. His 13th studio album, Colors, is set for release this month. Ribisi, a 43-year-old actress, has film credits that include Dazed and Confused (1993) and True Crime (1999).

The couple bought the house two years ago from director-screenwriter James Mangold and producer Cathy Konrad for $3.15 million.
